There are two main types of coax cables; one with an impedance of 50 Ohm and one with an impedance of 75 Ohm. Cables with 75 Ohm impedance are mainly used for video signal, while 50 Ohm tend to be used for data and wireless communication.
Typical application is single wire transmission and not duplex; Applications in two-way radio to rigid hard-line, and waveguides for high-powered microwave transmissions.
